Spring Intensive: April 20th – June 2nd 2013
Bodhi Manda Zen Center is happy to offer Zen Buddhist monastic practices open in the spirit of the traditional teachings of Kyozan Joshu Roshi. Vice-Abbess Jiun Hosen, Osho, will be guiding the program with the support of visiting Oshos, Monks and Nuns of the Rinzai-ji Sangha.
The daily schedule will introduce participants to early rising, 6 hours of zazen (sitting practice), the reading of one of the central sutras from the Buddhist Canon, as well as chanting, samu (work practice), and silent formal meals.
During the Spring program we will conduct three 7 day Sesshin, which will include about 12 hours of zazen per day.
Calendar
April 20th: Arrival.
April 21st: Sosarei (Spring intensive opening ceremony).
April 21-26: Daily monastic practices from 4am until 9PM including daily Dharma talk.
April 27th: Ha Shin Kyu Ji (Day of rest, care, and preparation before the 7 day Sesshin; plan on arriving by noon).
April 28th – May 4th: 7 day Sesshin (Daily schedule from 3am till 9pm).
May 5th: Hanamatsuri (Shakyamuni’s Birthday Ceremony) – Everyone is Invited. Please call to reserve a place!
May 6th – 10th: Ongoing daily monastic practices.
May 11th: Ha Shin Kyu Ji.
May 12 – 18th: Sesshin.
May 19th: Cleaning and rest day.
May 20th – 24th: Ongoing daily monastic practices.
May 25th: Ha Shin Kyu Ji.
May 26th – June 1st: Sesshin.
June 2nd: Sosarei (Spring intensive closing ceremony)
Costs
For the entire program from April 20th – June 2nd members of Bodhi Manda receive a 15% discount on all activities.
